Introduction to the Demonstration CD of the
Online Workshop on Web-based Training (WBT)

The workshop was an interactive, facilitated experience designed by the National Early Childhood Technical Assistance System (NECTAS) for its technical assistance audiences. The workshop was offered on three different occasions from September 2000 to November 2001 to trainers and technical assistance providers working in early intervention and early childhood special education.  The workshop was highly evaluated and many more people wanted to participate than could be accommodated.  Therefore, we decided to produce a demonstration version of the workshop to make the core content more widely available.

The workshop was comprised of six sessions, each of which lasted one week. Each participant had a personal NECTAS facilitator and the opportunity to participate in large and small group activities.

Unfortunately, in this static demonstration version, the activities are no longer interactive.  Readers will not be able to experience the communication strategies, such as teleconference calls, online chats, emails, discussion forum, whiteboard, shared files, etc. that had been incorporated into the workshop to enhance learner involvement.  Additionally, some of the hyperlinks to Internet resources may no longer be functional ("link rot" happens).

In order to access some of the media features of the workshop and some of the Internet links, you will need current versions of software, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and Real Player.  Instructions for downloading the necessary free software are provided on the home page under the "Workshop Help" section.

We invite you to explore the workshop and learn more about taking your training online.

Demo Note: Every time you see the Demo Note icon, you will be provided with an explanation of what the participants experienced during the workshop.
