SpecialQuest Training of Trainers
Several state teams have been selected
to attend the SpecialQuest Training of Trainers affiliated with the Inclusion Institute.
These SpecialQuest State Leadership Teams will learn
about the Hilton/Early Head Start Training model, explore the SpecialQuest Multimedia Training Library,
and create training plans using the SpecialQuest model and materials.
The Hilton/Early Head Start Training Program and the SpecialQuest Multimedia Training Library have been
designed to support families and community members to work together to include infants and toddlers with
disabilities in early care and education programs (e.g., child care, Early Head Start, home visiting,
early intervention), as well as the broader community. Ten years of training experience and evaluation
data have resulted in the evidence-based inclusion training curriculum in the SpecialQuest Multimedia
Training Library.
Outcomes of the SpecialQuest Training of Trainers
During the SpecialQuest Training of Trainers, SpecialQuest State Leadership Teams will:
- Examine an effective team-based training model designed to support inclusive services for
infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families;
- Consider how the training model may be applied to a variety of training contexts;
- Experience training approaches found to facilitate the transfer of learning into practice;
- Review planning and delivery strategies to enhance effectiveness of training;
- Apply key training principles to their own work for individual learning and systems change; and
- Develop an action plan that will infuse ongoing, cross-agency, team-based training
into state-level training plans.
