This is the first call in a series of calls coordinated by The National Early Childhood TA Center (NECTAC) in collaboration with: OSEP Preschool LRE Community of Practice, Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center, National Professional Development Center on Inclusion, and The Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention for Young Children (formerly the Center for Evidence-Based Practice: Young Children with Challenging Behavior). The adoption of a program-wide, tiered model of social emotional and behavior intervention is being promoted as an effective practice, but what does it take administratively to ensure fidelity of implementation? Lise Fox of the Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Interventions for Young Children will provide a brief description of a program-wide model and introduce Linda Broyles of the Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) who will describe the administrative actions necessary for program-wide model adoption, implementation fidelity, and sustaining the effort over time. Linda Broyles is the Deputy Director of SEK-CAP, Inc. and the Director of Early Childhood Services and has championed the program-wide adoption of Positive Behavior Support within her regional Head Start program that is currently in its 7th year of implementation.
Objectives
- Participants will receive an overview of the conceptual framework for the teaching pyramid model for prevention, promotion, and intervention of young children’s social and emotional competence.
- Participants will receive information on a program-wide, tiered model of social emotional and behavior intervention.
- Participants will receive information on the administrative actions necessary for program-wide model adoption, implementation fidelity, and sustaining program efforts.
- Participants will receive information on Web-based intervention resources that are available to facilitate improved social, emotional and behavioral outcomes for young children.
